Kelsey is currently the 2019 Bermuda Match Racing Champion and this year he will be competing in his first Argo Group Gold Cup. He was introduced to sailing at seven through the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club’s summer sailing programme starting in Optimists. He went on to compete in the Bermuda Opti National Championship, Optimist North American Championship, Optimist South American Championship and the Optimist US Nationals.

Kelsey left Bermuda to attend the Brewster Academy in New England where he excelled at the helm of the Brewster Academy Sailing Team (Varsity Team) for the entire four years he was enrolled there. Kelsey went on to help the Brewster Academy win the Cummings Cup (2009) which was the first time in Brewster Academy history the cup had been won. He also led the team in qualifying for the US High School Fleet and Team Racing Nationals for the first time ever and again the following year, finishing 6th overall (2011).

Since then Kelsey has been busy racing IODs competitively in Bermuda and in 2015, competed in the grueling Red Bull Youth America’s Cup Team Trials. He also joined an ocean crossing on the Spirit of Bermuda (a Bermuda sloop) sailing from Bermuda to Canada then down to Maine and last year Kelsey skippered the Victory V in Bermuda’s Fitted Dinghy Racing season coming 4th overall.
